Why the DJI Mic 2 doesn’t work as a standalone purchase

Just got the DJI Mic 2 to use as an everyday recorder, but after a short trial I determined it doesn’t really work without a receiver, which cannot be bought separately.

The unit records fine, and sounds ok. But the date & time cannot be set. The unit cannot be formatted. Can’t turn the low cut on or off. None of the settings are accessible without a receiver, which serves as the UI. There is no phone app. For me the date time issue is a deal killer.

So I will send the unit back and get one of the bundles, or possibly something like the Diety PR2. I really can’t decide if a mic built into a unit is the way to go or just use a lav. With the PR2 I think I’d have the option of a stick mic if I want, as long as it doesn’t need phantom power.
